Can Taking Synthroid Cause Rapid Weight Gain?

I have just been prescribed Synthroid and nervous that it may cause weight gain. I have no systems of my hypothryrodism other than foggy memory? Scared that if I start taking 50 mg as prescribed that I will gain weight. I m very active and exercise intensely?

As you have prescribe is synthroid, it contain levothyroxine, that is noramally prescribe in hypothyroidism. As you know that in hypothyroidism weight gain occurs , this is because of hormonal imbalance but when you take levothyroxine , this try to control hormonal imbalance . So your weight reduce gradually . Synthroid can not cause rapid weight gain..
