Can Tart Cherry Capsules Be Taken While On Diltiazem?
Six questions regarding tart cherry extract in capsule form: 1) What is the maximum dose considered safe? 2) What is the recommended dose? 3) Capsules seem to be popular in a 1, 200 mg increment; is that prudent or should tart cherry extract be taken twice a day in lower doses? 4) Are there any contraindications, specifically with hypertension medication such as diltiazem or beta blockers? 5) Does extract in capsule form have the same possible sorbitol side effects of juice? 6) What is the ratio of active ingredients in eight ounces of juice, as compared to one tablespoon of juice concentrate, as compared to what s available in powder/capsule? I ve not been able to find any pertinent information on tart cherry extract online. Thank you very much for your time and advice.

Tart cherry fruit contains ingredients that are thought to reduce inflammation and serve as antioxidants. It also contains melatonin which helps to regulate sleep patterns.
Appropriate dose depends on age, health condition etc. and keep in mind that natural products are not necessarily safe.
You can definitely take it with hypertensive drugs. interaction with drugs are still not known.
But be cautious if you find any changes in your blood pressure.
