Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with chronic constipation with no pathology. It has worsened in the past few months. My doctor said drinking Smooth Move tea was okay. It worked initially but now it does not. I am concerned about the dependency on such products and that it may make my condition worsen. I feel the normale chai in my bowel action is damaged. I want to use natural approaches, not pharmaceuticals. Please advise.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of chronic constipation which can occur due to many reasons and it is extremely important to find out the exact cause. Need not to worry. I would advise you to consult gastroenterologist once and get complete examination done like complete blood count, stool examination, ultrasound scan of abdomen, colonoscopy & contrast studies. You can start with traditional drugs like lactulose, milk of magnesia and cremaffin or bisacodyl tablets. Take diet rich in roughage such as carrots. Drink one spoon of honey in warm water daily . This will be really helpful. Drink plenty of fluids and take diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
