Hello, my husband started yesterday yellowing of the eyes. Urine and feces are normal. After passing the blood tests for bilirubin, we obtained the following results: Bilirubin total - 2.30 Direct bilirubin - 1.00. Indirect bilirubin - 1.30 SGPT (ALT) 9 SGOT (AST) 17 Is this something serious?

welcome to hcm ..in this case i would like to have complete history of patient ..as regarding any infection .fever or pain abdomen .nausea vomitting or any drug intake history ..i also suggest complete tests as Hb ..tlc ..dlc. sugar level ..b urea ..s creatinine ...urine complete ..test for typhoid and malaria ..most important is ultrasound ..now treatment is done according to reports of these tests ...if there is no medical history as asked above and all further tests come normal then i advise liver tonics as tab liveril forte or liv 52 ds one tab twice a day ..if tests are annormal then treatment according to defect ..bilirubin mildly enlarged but liver other tests as alt ast are normal ..this case is not a medical emergency but cause of jaundice should be found ...with regards dr varinder joshi
