Can The Discoloration And Swelling Of The Bruise On Shin Bone Denote Something Serious?

Hi there, I fell badly over 2 weeks ago & banged my shin bone just above the ankle. The pain was so excruciating I thought I'd broken something. It swelled up a bit, but never really showed much of a bruise.
It's been tender to the touch ever since, but yesterday a lump the size of a 50p piece came up which is now really throbbing. My whole shin feels inflamed & as though it should be hot to touch, but it isn't.
Do I need to get it checked out? Worried that something is going on under the surface that is agravating it?
Thanks for your help
