hi, i keep getting ear infections, sometimes they are fungle and sometimes bacterial. my mum needed to have her mastoid bone removed along with her ear drum because of recurrent ear problems. my doctor has only ever given me drops and antibiotics but nothing seems to work. he also says this is not hereditary? dont really know what to do. i am seeing my doctor later today. can you give me any advice? thanks....

Ear infections in itself are not hereditary. But the tendency of having them more frequent can be. For example if you have a specific ear chanal shape can make you more prone to having ear infections. Or you might have not treated it well when you were a child and now it has become a chronic infection which reactivates when your immune system is weak.
