Can The Regular Use Of Raloxifene Stimulate Growth Of Breast Cancer?
i am a breast cancer survivor, and i take raloxifene to treat osteoporosis caused by the steroids i was given during chemotherapy. i was told that raloxifene also protects me from recurrence of cancer, but some recent information says it can stimulate breast cancer growth. is this true? should i stop taking it? what is the real truth about raloxifene? thank you. my email address is : YYYY@YYYY
You are right, there has been a report about Raloxifene causing increased growth of breast cancer however this does not mean that it should be stopped.
As it is not backed by more evidence. On the other hand, there is a lot of evidence which shows that this drug can reduce the chance or progression of breast cancer. So I understand you should continue taking it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
