Dear doctor, My brother is having abdominal pain for long time. I took him to general physician today and he advised to take scanning. I got the scanning report as below 9.33mm right vuj calculus causing mild hydroureterronephrosis left renal calculi I'm going to meet urologist on tomorrow. Prior to that can you please let me know whether this stone can be removed through medicine without any surgery?
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your brother has impacted stone of a size of 9.33 mm at Rt UV Junction with changes of hydronephrosis on Rt side due to back pressure changes.
Please note that there are no medications that can dissolve the stone . You have two options 1) Wait and watch for stone to pass down through normal urinary passage But stone being large no body can predict when it will happen and how long it will take to pass down . 2) Go for endoscopic fragmentation of stone (URS) This will help to save the further damage to kidney and relieve his symptoms immediately.
