Can The Symptoms Of Chest Discomfort And Pain In Arm Be Due To Stress?
I have been having some chest discomfort and pain that radiates to my arm and my neck and up the side of my head. I know these are symptoms of heart attack but I really don t think that is what it is. I am only 37 years. (female) Can these symptoms be brought on by stress/anxiety?

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. This symptoms can be due to ischaemic heart disease and should be ruled out by doing an ECG to be on safe side. It can also occur in neck problems like cervical spondylosis. If you have neck pain, muscle spasm etc then it should be ruled out by doing X ray cervical spine. Even anxiety and stress also can cause such pain. If your ECG is clear then you can go for managing stress and anxiety. You can do relaxing exercises like breathing exercise. Sit with relaxing all muscles and take deep breaths. If this is not helping then approach a psychologist for counselling. If that is also not helping then anxiolytics can be taken for some duration along with counselling to stabilise it. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
