Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can ear pressure be caused by tonsil stones? My left ear feels stopped up and I can hear a swooshing noise. This is on the same side as my tonsils stones. The tonsil on the left side is way bigger and swollen looking. I don t get them on the right side of my mouth . Please help!
HI, Welcome to HCM, I read your query and i appreciate your concern regarding this issue. Yes tonsil stones can cause ear pressure because of inflammation and infection. If I will be your treating Physician I would suggest you to take
1- Take Diphenhydramine + Dextromethorphan for cough. 2- I would start you on amoxicilin/clavulanic acid 625mg thrice a day for 7 days. (It is a prescription medicine so you need to visit nearest doctor to get it) But throat swab culture test is also suggested. 3- Take acetaminophen for pain & fever 4- Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect. 5-AVOID: > Chilled water > Drinks > Spicy food This treatment will give you symptomatic relieve but I would Advise you to visit ENT Specialist for definitive treatment after proper Examination and Tests. Hope so it will be helpful. You can write again in case of any query or follow up. Wish you good health. Regards
