Can Too Much Vitamin-D Cause Dryness And Peeling Of The Face?
Hi, Doc... can taking too much vitamin D (over the counter, two 400 IU per day, not Calcitrol) cause dryness and peeling of the face? I had only noticed these changes after I began taking the vitamin D. I also take one multivitamin each day; I have MS and it was recommended to me by my neurologist to ingest more vitamin D. Thank you!
Too much vitamin D doesn't cause dryness and peeling of face. The following are side effects of too much vitamin D: 1) Hypercalcemia meaning excess of calcium in blood 2) Nausea 3) Vomiting 4) Weakness 5) Frequent urination 6) Bone pain 7) Kidney stones
Taking 60,000 international units (IU) a day of vitamin D for several months has been shown to cause toxicity. This is certainly very higher amount than you have been taking. So you don't have vitamin D toxicity. Just relax and you can use a good moisturizers for face dryness and peeling off. Multivitamin tablet also doesn't cause any dryness of face.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
