Can Treatment For MDRTB Be Stopped As My Health Is Good Now?
Hi Doctor, I am suffering from mdrtb my treatment started on Nov 2014 my medicines are going to end this November,i wanted to ask can I end the treatment early ,my health is good now and sputum report is saying negative and x-ray showing fibrotic scar in right upper zone. Please answer , thanks.
The fact that you are doing better is due to the good effect of the medications which have fought the TB infection. You have an MDRTB which means multiple drug-resistant TB, and you should strictly follow the instructions of your doctor when it comes to how you should use the drugs.
Even though you are better, stopping the drugs earlier than it is recommended may cause you to have a relapse with even more severe infection and highly resistant bacteria. In this case, the antibiotics may not work as well as the first time and you risk your own life.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
