Can Ulcerative Colitis Cause Stomach Pain?

My son (34) has a hx. of extreme stomach pain that sometimes can only be relieved by doladid. He use to smoke wax or oil from marijuana, but when hospitalized several years ago, he stopped using it. They found multiple lower colon ulcers. He just had another colonoscopy and upper GI, with findings of an esophageal ulcer. He does still smoke marijuana through a water pipe multiple times a day, and is also taking rx. meds for bipolar. Am wondering if the smoking may contributing to his ongoing condition of ulcers, or perhaps the mixture of smoking and rx. drugs that do not mix well.

Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that smoking is contributing to new ulcers and thus resulting in pain. could you provide prescribed treatment so that I can see if drugs along with it are causing any side effects too.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
