Can Ultrasound Accurately Determine The Duration Of Pregnancy?

Hello I had an ultrasound done at 10 weeks and everything checked out good! My question is if I was 16 weeks further along ( making me 26 weeks along) would the ultrasound tech notice and would the ultrasound show that!? Is there any way I could be that much further along and it not show on the ultrasound?? Also when does the yolk sac disappear?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Growth of the baby is a sequential and continuous event. Ultrasound scans may be done at 10 week, 20 weeks, 28 to 32 weeks, 34 weeks. Each ultrasound scan has its own importance with respect to the time in weeks when it is done. Ultrasound prediction is based on measurements and if you were 16 weeks, it willl be obvious on the scan. As the pregnancy advances, the yolk sac disappears and is often sonographically not detectable after 14 weeks.
