I have these pains for a week now.I work out every second day with 50 of push ups and 20 mins abs workout ( i have started 14 days ago). I also drink everyday atleast few beers and have about 30 cigrattes a day. My eating is not healthy. I am an exchange student.I hope this are simptons because of drinking/ smoking or working out? And it will stop?
Cannot say in your particular case without directly seeing you AND, pain can be localized by seeing what triggers it. if moving a muscle directly or indirectly (coughing, laughing) triggers the pain it is a very good indicator that the pulled muscle is the source of the pain. This can be the rib muscles OR the diaphram. In either case, resting the muscle (not straining, not working out) and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory meds would be the initial treatment and gradually increasing training would be helpful in the long run, but this should only be begun after the pain has stopped.
