Can Unprotected Intercourse After Stopping Contraception Lead To Pregnancy?
Hi. I recently stopped my contraception which I was on for around 1 year and a half. My contraception was the Depo-Provera injection and my most recent injection was due in June however I cancelled my appointment and since then have had no contraception. Me and my partner have had unprotected sex several times since then, approx. every weekend since then etc. For around 1-2 weeks I have had very painful breasts and nipples (I have never had this before), light bleeding, cramping, nausea and cravings. I have taken a pregnancy test last week which came back negative. Is it possible that I m pregnant so soon after stopping my contraception?

Can Unprotected Intercourse After Stopping Contraception Lead To Pregnancy?
Hello, A woman can become pregnant soon after stopping contraception, so it is possible to get pregnant after not renewing your depo Provera injection. I would recommend you to repeat the urinary pregnancy test. If it is again negative then very likely you are not pregnant. I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed. Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
