Three weeks ago I received unprotected oral sex from a girl I met at a bar. About two weeks later I noticed some discomfort during urination. It burns quite a bit when I urinate especially at the tip of the penis. I went to a nearby clinic and explained the situation to the Dr. She tested me for Chlymidia and Gonorreha but the results were negative. She gave me a shot of Ampicillin and a one day dose of some other antibiotics. Still the problem persists. I am very concerned as to what this might be. I have noticed the burning and pain of the penis gets worse during bowel movement. Also I have been trying to intake as much liquids especially water as possible. It seems like the more I take the more pressure it makes to the penis therefore increasing the burning sensation. The head of the penis sometimes is also very sensitive. Sometimes it is so bad that just by touching the underwear it causes severe discomfort. Any help will be sincerely appreciated..
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
If I were your treating doctor, I would advise you for a urine routine/microscopic test, along with a urine culture sensitivity as well to know the exact antibiotic you should be prescribed. Depending on the report, I would prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic along with a drug against anaerobic organisms. After an interval, I would also advise you to undergo std tests again.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts. Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. Your symptoms are very highly suggestive of urethritis or urinary tract infection. Also, the history of unprotected oral sex is very suggestive too. Unfortunately, all pathogens responsible for urethritis cannot always be tested. Empirically , you have been given antibiotics, however that has not helped. FOr now, please consult a doctor and go for urine routine and microscopy plus urine culture. Also local examination for balanitis / epididymoorchitis or other complications. Drink lots of water. Avoid unprotected oral / anal / vaginal sex. Once the infective organism is identified on urine culture, appropriate treatment should be initiated. Do not ignore the symptoms lest florid infection and complications should set in. All the best
