Can Usage Of AKT 4 And Then AKT2 Causes Any Harm To The Body?
i have been advised akt4 for two months. After taking 56 days(4days short),due to liver problem Dr Advised to stop(Rifampicin + Isoniazid) and giving other drugs. After wards the course will continue for 7 months for AKT2. Will there be any harm.
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. You are having AKT (anti tb treatment) induced liver damage. It is commonly due to pyrazinamide, rifampicin and isoniazid. So once liver damage is detected, we need to stop all these drugs. Ethambutol is liver safe and can not cause damage. Along with ethambutol, levofloxacin should be started. Levofloxacin is also liver safe. You are taking AKT 2. It is having rifampicin and isoniazid. Both are hepatotoxic and hence should be discontinued. Instead of it, you should take ethambutol and levofloxacin. You need to take these drugs fir 5-6 months. So better to consult tb specialist and start ethambutol and levofloxacin. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
