Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Using Hand Sanitizer With Alcohol Content Harm The Unborn Child During Pregnancy?
The nursing staff here are concerned about using too much hand sanitizer (70% ethyl alcohol) and becoming intoxicated. one of the staff members is pregnant and she is concerned about harming her baby because of the alcohol content in the gel. they are requesting that the clinic pay to have their blood alcohol content levels tested. are their concerns reasonable?
There is a possibility, as with smell i.e., fumes are enough to effect it. Hence, it is reasonable, i.e sprayed on mask to sanitize is much hazardous, they should not be doing that at least.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
