Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Vaccinations And Medication Cause Tightness In Chest?
I received four vaccinations at one time zoster, Tdap, pneumonia & flu. I also started a prescription of sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim one day ago - one tablet 2 times a day. Could this cause a tightness in the chest? Should I discontinue and wait on the antibiotic?
Hello and thank you for your question. It is possible for you to have some tightness in the chest after vaccines, but you did not state why you got the antibiotics. Did you get the antibiotics for a chest infection? Could that be why you have chest tightness? Are you coughing? short of breath? If you are having trouble breathing or wheezing a lot you should go to Emergency right away. If he chest tightness is from an infection (that is being treated with the antibiotics) then it should go away as your infection clears. If you think the chest tightness is due to the immunizations then you need to let your doctor know right away. If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, fevers or weakness go to Emergency. Otherwise see your doctor as soon as possible to sort this out. Thank you for using HCM.
