Can Vitamin D2 Supplements Be Taken For Osteopenia?

My Dr wants me to start taking vitd2. My blood work showed low vit d and NY bone density showed osteopenia border lone osteoporosis. I recently had a vertebrae compression fracture when I fell. I m only 59....Leary about taking meds. Is vit d2safe

As per your history is concerned please follow my advise:

1) weight-bearing exercise
2) quitting smoking
3) not drinking alcohol excessively
4) Take vitamin D daily 800 IU
5) calcium-1200mg per day
