General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Your doctor prescribed omnacortril 10 mg ( prednisolone 10 mg ) for you & mother for chikengunya .
The treatment is perfect and up to date .
Now you mentioned that chance of weight gain is there , so need not to worry .
Although steroid causes weight gain but when such situation arises in my clinic I usually advise my patient take fruselac ( lasix ) 40 mg along omnacortril for 10 days ( as advised by your doctor ).
But due to this you will loose some minerals as potassium so you can take pot klor along lasix.
Plenty of fluid will also help.
Good luck.
