Can We Feed A Seven Month Old Baby Cow Or Buffalo Milk Mixed With Banana Or Apple?
Hello Doctor, My son is 7 1/2 months old and we are concerned if he is getting better diet or not. Can you please advise if we can feed him cow/buffallo milk mixed with banana or apple? Also, please advise the list of feedings (milk/solids) that we have to feed to our kid on day to day basis. Appreciate your help. His mom is a working and she is feeding him milk in the morning before leaving to office, and in the night after coming from office. Thank you. Bharath Kumar
dear Bhasrath
yes.. but best feeds will be cereals.. flour related items like upma suji kheer sheera etc
prolonged milk dominant diet beyond 6 months with animal milk may cause malnutrition.
thanks
It is always appropriate to give your baby home made and readily available foods that are easy to prepare and at the same time nutritious.
Since your baby is already 7.5 months old, you can give foods like mashed banana, mashed potato, khichri or dal. If his mom is office going, it is advisable to store breast milk in refrigerator.
Provided the office is not far from home, she can come during lunch and spend some time with the kid and nurse the baby as well. Milk can be stored in normal room temperature for upto 8 hours and in the fridge for upto 24 hours.
So doctors always promote breast milk over cow or goat milk and always encourage mothers to nurse their babies. If however it is impossible to follow what I just mentioned, you can then consider cow milk. Yes you can mix it with banana to make it a little pasty allowing the baby to swallow better.
