Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
can wearing dentures cause a chronic cough. I try to use as little as possible poligrip but seem to have a little post nasal drip and irritation that makes me swallow and irritates the back of my throat causing me to cough / sometimes litte phlegm production. Just want go away
As per your query, wearing dentures is not a cause for chronic cough and post nasal drip although you have have some gagging reflex if the extensions of the dentures are placed too deep into the soft palate as touching of soft palate can case gagging and nausea.. Deep extensions can cause cough ue to throat irritation..
As far as post nasal drip and cough is concerned it can be due to sinus infection and the mucous that flows at the back of throat can cause throat irritation and tickle leading to coughing..
Consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a proper treatment can be planned according to the cause to relieve the symptoms..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
