Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I m worried because I have missed my period, I have taken a pregnancy test 7 days after my missed period and got a negative result twice. I had a yeast infection 3 weeks prior to my missed period. Can a yeast infection be the cause of my missed period?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Yeast infection will not interfere with menstrual cycles. The yeast infection needs to be treated with appropriate anti-fungal drugs. The cause of missed periods needs to be found out. Missed periods can occur in case of pregnancy, hormonal imbalance, infections like tuberculosis etc. The pregnancy test becomes positive 10-14 days after conception. A negative pregnancy test rules out pregnancy. Other cause of missed period need to be found out. Thus, consult your gynecologist for further evaluation and management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
