Diabetes per se cannot cause death but it is the complications arising from the disease like hypoglycemia, ketoacidosis, multiple infections, renal failure, artherosclerosis, stroke etc which are lethal. Prolonged uncontrolled blood glucose levels are the main responsible factors for such complications.
