Can You Fly With A Dry Socket?

HI there.I had a tooth extracted, molar(one closest to the front teeth) 4 days ago. A large tooth. I saw the dentist two days later breifly he said it was healing ok.There is still pain though and I am still on advil every four hours(just 200mg) and have to fly long haul...long flight in three days .I hope I dont have dry socket as ti is still sore.I thought the pain woudl ahve subsided after 4 days.Will flying make it worse in 3 days(it will be 7 days since the tooth was extracted) thanks

Can understand your concern.

As per your complain after tooth extraction if there is still some pain after 4 days it is not a very uncommon finding and can be seen in many patients..

If there is a green signal by your dentist that the healing is taking place well then you need not to worry and continue taking antibiotics and painkillers as prescribed your dentist and follow other instructions given to you..

If it would be a dry socket there happens to have severe pain,empty looking socket with no healing tissue and pain can radiate to entire jaw on same side,ear,throat,eye and head and foul smell in mouth but it doesnt seems the case..

The air journey does not have any negative effect on healing and will not cause you any serious problem of pain if the socket is healing only can be a bit more sore as compared to other areas of mouth..

You can keep a few painkillers with you to alleviate any minor pain if it happens.. Rest there is no other problem that can be caused..
