Cause For Cough, Throat Congestion And Scratchy Chest?
Hello, I have a history of gerd, and have awakened to a slight throat congestion, and a dry cough and scratchy chest. I had a bad cold in recent weeks which turned later into a sinus infection. Hi, thanks for your query. Analyzing your symptoms, I feel probably you might be having lung infection along with Gerd . Because of gerd, your cough has worsened. If I were your treating doctor, I would have asked for blood work, sputum analysis if cough is productive, chest x ray, mantoux test. Empirically I would start you on antihistamines with mucolytic twice a day . Treat your Gerd with prokinetic drugs like pantoprazole+ domperidone. Depending on the report I woukd add on the other medications like antibiotics for infection, steroids for allergic cough, anti tuberculosis treatment for Tuberculosis unless proved by blood test , and mantoux test.
