Causes For Sudden Spike In Blood Pressure

My blood pressure will suddenly spike to high 100's over low 100's and make me very weak. After a few hours bed rest it usually returns to normal levels but the weakness can continue for a day or two. My cardiologist is aware of this and I am on high blood pressure medication but we have not been able to stop this from occurring. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to HCM. High BP or Hypertension once diagnosed you have to take medications on dialy basis. Usually their is variation in BP in a day, this is called diurnal variation. This happens even after taking antihypertensive medications. U have told it will spike to high 100's, means exactly how much u have not mentioned. I suggest you to continue the BP medications regularly and restrict salt in food, avoid fatty foods, do some physical exercise, practice meditation. In case your BP still not under control please consult your doctor for change in medications. Remember no medicines can cure, but only controls high BP. All the best. Regards
