Hi,

your prostate volume is absolutely normal. corpora amylacea are normal collections in prostate glands. heterogenous echotexture of the prostate is of no major concern either.

if you have had this scan done for urinary symptoms, then your doctor would wish to evaluate you further with uroflowmetry and urine analysis.

if you have had this scan done as a routine screen then, your doctor would just examine your prostate and perhaps, if necessary also order a blood test of serum PSA.

Since the peripheral zone of the gland is clear, there is no major concern about cancer in the prostate. this TRUS scan however is not fool proof to rule out cancer and as i just mentioned, your doctor will evaluate you in greater detail to see if we need more tests to ensure that there is no malignancy.

i re-iterate that your scan seems pretty much normal and there is no obvious reason to be stressed about.

get a rectal examination done by your doctor and i m sure he will order the PSA test if he considers t necessary. we could decide if you needed more tests only after these two.

i pretty much believe you will be normal though.

Best wishes

Srivatsa
