Chances Of Normal Delivery Having Loop Of The Cord Around The Fetal Neck?
My wife is pregnant for 9 months. Delivery is just to be happened in a day or two. A loop of cord has been seen around the fetal neck of cord. What percentage is there of normal delivery. Apart from the loop, every thing is normal baby's weight is 2.70 kg.
Dear member, Thanks for writing to healthcare magic. The chances of normal delivery depends on no of factors. The fetal weight is not too big so that favours vaginal delivery. Also pains should star spontaneously. If during Labour progress is fine then most babies with loop around the neck deliver normally. The babies with more than one loop or cord around the neck will have difficulty. It is not possible on scan to check how many loops a're there. So best is to wait and watch. If labour dosent progress as usual then your doctor may decide to do a cesarean section. Thanks Dr Bhagyashree
