Cheekbone Injury, Bruised, Swollen, Black Eye. Why Is There A Lump?

Hi my son fell at school and hit his cheekbone. It was red at first with a small bruise then 2 days later the swelling and bruising came out, all down right hand side of face and swollen and black eye. It is now 4 weeks since this happened and he still has a dark patch/ slight bruise to cheekbone and now a lump! What is it?

Hello,
It seems from the history that your son had injury following which he had black eye and a lump. Dark eye is because of ecchymosis of eye lids indicating collection of blood within the layers of the eye lid skin. The lump is probably indicating hematoma.
Thank you
