GI problems are more likely than cardiac problems given your age and symptoms
Upper endoscopy and a barium swallow would elucidate the structure and function of your esophagus which is the likely source of your symptoms.
If you cant make it to the doctor, consider a trial of H2 blockers such as:
• Tagamet (cimetidine)
• Pepcid (famotidine)
• Axid (nizatidine)
• Zantac (ranitidine)
if available over the counter. These medications neutalize acid. Depending on the medication, begin taking the medicineat bedtime then twice daily to see if these alleviate your symptoms. Avoid foods known to upset your stomach as these will make matters worse
In countries with high consumption or hot tea or in patients with a prior history of caustic injection, the unusual possibility of esophageal cancer needs to be considered, hence my recommendation above for endoscopy.
