Male. Age 59. 6 foot 7 inches. 215 lbs. Chest x-ray states "Hyperexpanded lungs with mild chronic-appearing interstitial lung markings with fibronodular changes in the lung apices are noted. The remainder of the lung fields and costophrenic angles are clear. Pulmonary vasculature is normal in appearance." What does this mean?
Your chest X-ray suggests that 1.Your lungs are expanded in size ,it may be due to emphysematous changes. 2.Apical portion of lungs shows fibrosis with nodular changes, it may be due to past infection.There are also many other reasons for fibro nodular changes. 2.Interstitial lung markings shows mild chronic changes, it may be due to chronic exposure to irritant or infection also. 3.Rest of the findings are normal.
