Child. Chest Congestion With High Fever. On Amoxicillin. Better To Switch To Clarithromycin?

hello,

My child is suffering from chest congestion and high fever since last 2 days. Doctor has prescribed amoxycilling and i have already given 3 doses of it since yesterday evening. My question is is it better to switch to clarithromycin and if yes, when is the good time since i have already started with amoxyclav?

Thanks,
Prabhash

Hi,
As you have started giving amoxicilin, wait for 2 days to show its effect.
If infection controls with amoxicillin, we should avoid higher antibiotic.
Continue medicine for high fever like paracetamonl as and when required.
Give enough water.
If there is no response after 3-4 days then consult your doctor for having higher antibiotic.
Ok and take care.
