Child. Pain In Stomach With Vomiting. History Of No Intake Of Food For Long Hours. On Pepsiguard P. Can Rantac For Acidity Be Given?

My daughter is ten years old and yesterday she didn't took her lunch and after returning from school at about 5p.m. she ate one banana and one chapati and after that she slept and woke up at 8 p.m and complaint stomach pain and after few minutes she vomited two times. I have given her 5ml of pepsiguard_p and one domastal tablet.
She hasn't taken any food and again after 6hrs she's complaining stomach pain.
Is it due to acidity ?
If so can I give her half tablet of Rantac for acidity, as there is nothing in her stomach.
Or plz suggest any other medicine.

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern. However I would recommend that you get your daughter examined by a doctor instead of doing self medication. Pain in abdomen associated with vomiting can be due to a number of reasons which need clinical examination. There can be a number of causes but the most common ones can be:
1. Onset of gastroenteritis.
2. Acute appendicitis.
3. Urinary tract infection.
4. Kidney stone.
Acidity would not cause pain and vomiting and hence I will not recommend you give her Rantac.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.
