Child. Turnout Of Right Eye. Recommended Eye Glasses For 2 Months For Not Deteriorating 3D Vision. Permanent Specs Required?
my daughter is 1 year 10 months old. I found my daughter right eye turn out, most of the times both eyes looks normal but from last 3/4 months right eye turn out is more. I met pediatric eye specialist. She recommended to use eye glasses (cylindrical power of -3.75) for 2 months, alternate days close the eye for 6 hours a day one after the other.
1. My worry is the cyl power is permanent and she should always wear the glasses? 2. Doctor told it is for not to deteriorate 3D vision 3. more precisely what happened to my daughter eyes?
Hello Your daughter is suffering from divergent squint in her right eye. In view of her age her treatment has to start on objective findings of the eye surgeon. If one eye is having a high refractive error as described by you,the normal eye should be occluded five days a week and the other eye should be occluded twice a week. Otherwise the eye with refractive error is likely to become a lazy eye.
The refractive error should determined preferably under atropine dilation. This treatment should continue for minimum 6 months and periodic check up the eyes every month is mandatory.
If things improve, the treatment is to continue as per the response.
