Hi,
Thank you for your query,
In case of oil ingestion, forceful
vomiting is not required as while vomiting it may enter in to lungs due to its stickiness and viscosity.
The main danger of oil ingestion is the development of
aspiration pneumonia due to aspiration of oil into lungs while ingestion or during vomitings.
Don't be panic, as it will lead to aspiration pneumonia if oil entered in to the lungs and can be managed.
Is the child having cough? Cough may be the sign of
choking or the involvement of respiratory system.
Pneumonitis will develop gradually, usually within 6 hours and manifested as cough and rapid breathing.
Consult emergency or your
Pediatrician immediately for the examination and for X ray chest and further management.
Hope I have answered your query.
