Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Child Born With Bilateral Puj Obstruction. Done Pleplasty. Frequent Nosebleeds. Related To Kidneys?
my son is 3 and was born with bilateral puj obstruction, he had an open left pleplasty in nov 09. his last review sail both sides were now moderate. however he has begun to get frequent nosebleeds for no apparent reason, some are heavy lasting about 5 mins others are very slow bleeds that can last 2 days. Is this related to his kidneys. He is currently on no medication .
Thanks for posting your query here at Healthcaremagic.
I would like to get more information:
1. Status of Rt PUJ. Has your doctor mentioned that it needs to be relieved or not?
2. What his kidney function tests were? (Bl Urea, Creatinine, Calcium and Phosphorus etc)7
Unless the child has significantly poor kidney functions (Chronic renal failure), kidney problems per se are unlikely to cause nose bleeding.
Does he have tendency to pick the nose?
I would advise to get him checked over by a Pediatrician. He may need a blood test to find out his Platelet count and clotting factors (these things help blood to form a clot following an injury or a leak).
