Child Constantly Thirsty, Feel Sluggish If No Access To Water. No Other Symptoms. Anything Serious?
My son says he is constantly thirsty and feels a bit sluggish if he has no access to a drink when at school. He has no obvious other symptoms of diabetes ( first thing I thought when he told me this). Does it sound serious? I myself have always liked to drink a lot of fluid during the day and Im healthy. However, Ive worried about his fogginess when dehydrated. Should he see a doctor?
Hi
Thank you for your query
It will be a good idea to see a pediatrician. Excessive thirst can be a symptom of diabetes. But if it is not associated with excessive urination then you might need to worry a lot. If it is an acute thing that is something of recent onset then it may be related to dehydration due to some reason. Lethargy too can be explained by that. But if it is of long duration then you should get your child tested. Hopefully everything will turn out fine
God bless you
