Reason for cough in your child may be due to:
1.Allergy or asthmatic: as no fever, mostly at night. Is there any family history?or seasonal history?
For this you can try some antiallergic syrups like of cetrizine,if it works it confirms allergy than proper treatment should be started .
2. Infection : It may be due to infection, but less chances. For this if some sputum is coming give it for culture in laboratry.Start antibiotic according to culture sensitivity.

Other important test like Blood examination(including PBF), Chest X ray & ENT examination should also be done.
