Child Coughs, Stuffed Up Nose. Was Belly Breathing. Have Asthma. Advised Pneumonia. On Budesonide. Pale In Color. Treatment?

I took my 5 yr old daughter to the dr two days ago due to her sounding like she was losing her voice, coughing and suffed up nose. Plus she was belly breathing. ( she does suffer from asthma) When at the dr office her o2 levels ranged from 93 to 95. The dr said she had pneumonia . They gave her a breathing treatment and a anti body shot.... Sent her home with meds ( antibodies, budesonide and albuterol from her machine. I've been doing her treatment every 4 hrs. But tonight as she is sleeping I notice she is still belly breathing and I checked her temp under her tounge and its reading 96.7. She is a little pale in color in the face but not blue at the lips or nails. Please help

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

It seems the child is having bronchospasm with increased respiratory rate.

I advise you to continue the medication as prescribed by her doctor.

Consult again the doctor for follow up to assess the progression and any improvement in her clinical signs.

Observe for bluish discoloration of lips, inability to talk, respiratory distree and if you find any of these, consult the emergency.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Hi
thanks for your question.
You need to urgently go back to the doctor.
You child most likely has not responded well to medication and have child hospitalised
Based on my experience children with asthma who develop pneumonia must be hospitalized for atleast 5 days for close monitoring, in addition I would recommend culture and sensitivity tests to be done so that we are sure of what microbe is causing pneumonia and what drug its sensitive to.
Hope I answered your question, will be happy to help you if you have other questions.
