Child Does Not Take Food Properly. What Type Of Food Should Be Given?
Hello doctor, Iam a mother of a 1and half year old baby. He is very lean but more active and brisk, he doesnt have food properly. I dint know how to feed him correctly with all nutrients and healthy items. please tell me what type of food to give and how to make him healthy. He is just 10 kg from 11months onwards. After one year of age you can give family food which is being cooked for your family, but it should be soft. It is called family pot feeds.
After 1 year of age the the growth rate of children will decrease and appetite also decrease in parallel to growth rate, so nothing to worry.
The intake of food by toddler is guided by hunger, one day with good intake and another day less intake but if you take a week on average the intake will be sufficient for them.
The following methods will encourage the kids to take more feeds
1. Two spoon method, one to mother and one to child
2. Finger foods
3. Sitting on High chair with a big tray along with family members during meal time.
The balanced diet containing cereals, pulses, vegetables, fruits,oils should be given.
The gap between to feeds depends on individual hunger and it should be tailored accordingly.
