Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Child Fell, Nose Swollen, Bruised, Running Temperature, Vomited. Monitor/doctor?
My toddler decided to climb on top of the toilet yesturday and he fell and hit his nose on the tub. It is swollen and bruised today. We went to the doctor this morning my son had a temp of 100 at the doctors, and the doc said that he seemed fine to him. He now has a temp of 102.4 and vomited one time. Should I be worried and take him to the ER? Or just monitor him?
Hi and sorry to hear about what's happening to your son.
Swollen nose and bruise can explain why the child has fever. also, the fact that the child is sick may be responsible for the vomiting.
I am pretty sure the doctor at least prescribed some anti pyretics and pain medications to your child. I will suggest that you continue with it for now.
However, you need to increase his fluid intake to avoid any dehydration. If vomiting should be more frequent, or temperature rising and new symptoms develop, then I will suggest you return with your son to the ER.
I hope this helps you. I also hope your son stay stable and recover soon. Please, toddlers are always trying new things....always try to watch after as often as possible.
