How Can A Severe Bruise And Swelling At The Injury Site Be Managed?

I have a bruised and swollen hand. It started with a rose thorn stab on the base of my middle finger. I also bruised it accidentally and now it s swollen and darkening under the skin. This happened about 3 days ago and it s still swollen and tender and appears greenish on my skin.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of bruise on injury site, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream on it.
3. Take a NSAID like Ibuprofen.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin and Azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
