Child Got His Forehead Glued After A Cut. Now Swollen, Headache. Allergic To Gassy. Problem?
Six days ago my five year old had to get a cut on his forehead glued.today he woke up and his eyes were swollen shut and his forehead puffy. Complained with headache last night. He is allergic to gassy and was in the barn but never done like this. Took him to doctor and she put him on allergy medicine and steroid but that was at two and now at eight it is still pretty swollen. Should I take him back or do you think I should get another look or give it time to go down.
Hi ! There must have been some oozing in the sub cutaneous tissue of the forehead and the blood has collected in the space. The loose tissue around the eyes give least resistant and so get swollen due to the accumulation of blood. You can wait and watch the child, if he is fully awake and conscious and there is not much discomfort or vomiting. The collected blood will get absorbed of its own gradually. However, if the swelling continues to increase constantly without any relief, you must show him in a hospital emergency room for a possible CT scan of the head. Wishing your son a fast recovery.
