Child Got Hit And Scraped In Knee. It Is Numb. Not Infected. What Are The Upcoming Risk?

My 15 year old, 6'3", son hit and scraped his left shin about 5 inches down from the knee and now the area
all around it is numb. The wound looks normal, not infected. Is numbness normal after a blow to the shin.
He was rock climbing and with Jeans on and scraped against the rock. The Jeans didn't tear, so the leg never
touched the rock.
Thank you
