Child Got Hit On The Forehead. Have A Big Bump, Hurts. No Nausea Or Vomiting. On Advil. Problem?
My dtr got hit on the forehead at cheer practice today. It was a flyer that came down and hit her. She doesn't know what part hit her exactly. She has a pretty big bump and hurts when pressure is applied. No nausea or vomiting. Gave her Advil and ice pack. It happened at 5:30 p. Should she see a doctor? Can she go to sleep now?
Hi Thanks for your query Your child was hit on her head. After injury there is hematoma formation which takes few days to settle. Most important is to watch for danger symptoms like vomiting/loss of consciousness/any abnormal movement/bleeding from ear or nose. in case you observe any get her evaluated by doctor.
In the meantime continue with cold compresses and acetaminophen for pain relief.
how old is your daughter?this is important because in children the bones are comparitevly softer.
in general head injuries should not be taken lightly, but here as shes not complaining of any vomitinng or visual disturbance, you can wait.it its in easy reach you can show to a doctor for phiysical examination asd it will help.
