Child Has Consistent Fever, Cough, Mucus, Appetite Loss, Headaches, Diagnosed To Be Bacterial Infection. What Should Be Done?
granddaughter age 5 sick off and on the past 3 months 103 temp coughing mucus loss of appetite some headaches treated with amoxixillin 9spelling) now they put her on a different antibiotic she gets better than 7-14 days later is sick again..dr said it was a bacterial infection . what would you suggest we do I think we should take her to another doc or the childrens er just to be sure... email YYYY@YYYY
A normal child may have 7 such infections in an year specially during season change.
most of these attacks are viral and dose not warrant antibiotic use unless blood tests suggest so.
Usually these children get well in 5-6 days.
Maintain good hydration and hygiene.Go for blood tests if she suffers frequent attacks before antibiotic therapy.Check her allergy levels too.
