Child Has Consistent Raspy Breathing, Occasional Cough, Back Seems To Rattle While Breathing. Cause And Cure?
My son has had raspy breathing and an occasional cough for 2.5 months now. When it originally started his doctor said it was just in his throat and he also had an ear infection and had recently gotten over an illness . He is 14 months old. 2 days ago i was holding him and noticed that it felt like his back was rattling when he breathed in. Should i take him back to the doctor or could he just have thick mucus in his throat ?
hi there, if your child is otherwise healthy ie takes his feeds well, has no fever, cough or any other systemic symptoms then you can try giving him some steam inhalations and physiotherapy to dislodge the mucous from his URT. If he is breathless or irritable with excessive crying or refusal to feed then you may need to visit a pediatritian who would examine his chest for breath sounds and if there is any obstructive airway problem then give medication accordingly. Take care.
